The Project

Having been in their current office since 2011, they had outgrown the space and decided to take a new space in the heart of Dublin's central business district.

Frontier Economics needed their new office to reflect their professional yet dynamic culture. The design had to cater to various working styles, foster collaboration, and meet accessibility requirements—all while utilising sustainable practices by repurposing existing furniture where possible.

One of the key features of this project was the incorporation of Hush meeting pods within the main open-plan space. The curved edges of these pods aligned perfectly with the client’s aesthetic preferences, while their soundproof design provided private areas for calls and meetings. These were provided in a range of sizes to suit different meeting styles, and we worked with the client's AV provider to ensure they could be fitted with suitable technology for video conferencing as well as their room booking system.

Additionally, we included an accessible version of the pods, ensuring the office met the client’s disability requirements. These pods have been instrumental in boosting team productivity by offering quiet, focused spaces amidst the open layout while also allowing Frontier to minimise their build costs and any future dilapidation works should they look to relocate.

Flexibility was a core principle throughout the design. We introduced collaboration tables at varying heights to accommodate diverse working preferences, allowing employees to choose setups that suited their individual styles.

A wide range of collaboration furniture was installed, including a mix of high and low collaboration tables that provide unique spaces for staff to utilise, depending on the task at hand. Zoning furniture was strategically placed to define areas within the open-plan space, creating a balance between collaboration and focused work. Lockers were also installed to minimise personal storage in the desk areas, further enhancing the workspace's flexibility.

Sustainability was a guiding factor in this project. We showcased a sustainable approach to office design by relocating and repurposing furniture from the previous office while upgrading pieces that were no longer fit for purpose. Many of the existing pieces were reupholstered and repurposed to fit into the new space, reducing waste and allowing us to deliver a cost-effective solution for the client.

The feedback from Frontier Economics has been overwhelmingly positive. Their team has expressed how much they enjoy coming into the new office, emphasising the space's improved functionality and aesthetic appeal. Hush meeting pods, in particular, have been highlighted as a standout feature for enhancing productivity.

This project demonstrates Fluid’s ability to act as a single-source supplier for companies with multiple offices across different countries. We ensured high standards and brand consistency throughout the process by providing a consistent point of contact.
